What is the Indee New Resident Housing Incentive Program?

The Indee New Resident Housing Incentive Program offers discounts and free services to new Independence residents living within City limits. It is our goal to welcome new citizens and encourage potential residents to consider Independence as a place to call home.

What incentives are available?

Discounts at Closing

• Up to $2,500 cash for closing. (For applicants who qualify based on income stipulations)
• Waived Closing Fee for BankIowa customers – Value of $195

New Neighbor Welcome Package

Valued at $500

Free Services

• Water/Sewer Credit 3 months free water/sewer credit or $200 credit
• Courtesy of the City of Independence
• 3 months free garbage pickup valued at $40 – Courtesy of the City of Independence
• Family 6 month pass to Falcon Civic Center valued at $100 – Courtesy of the City of Independence
• Family season pass to Independence Public Swimming Pool valued at $95

• 3 months standard basic cable TV, high speed internet & digital phone/no installation fees – valued at $320.55 – Courtesy of Independence Light & Power, Telecommunications

• 10 coupons/certificates redeemable for up to $50 in vendor tickets at the next event – Courtesy of Independence Day Celebration and Independence Brew-B-Q
• Coupons/certificates will be situation and amount specific:
  • Single – $20
  • Couple – $30
  • Family – $50
  • Maximum overall dollar $500 for each event.

Applicant Qualifications

• Applicant must buy existing home or build a new home in city limits. Must be a single-family dwelling with
  a close date of no more than 12 months after the date of program application submission.
• Applicant must not receive third-party housing incentives (those not mentioned in this program).
• Applicant must not have signed a contract committing to a home purchase or new home development
  prior to the date of submitting an Indee New Resident Housing Incentive Application and/or March 1, 2013.
• Applicant must disclose living address for the previous 3 years.
• Applicant must not have owned property within city limits in the previous 3 years.
  Exception for those renting within Independence while attempting to sell a home in another area. This grace period is no more than 1 year.
• Applicant must disclose date they moved to Independence.
• Applicant must use the services of the program’s Participating Sponsors in order to receive discounts
  at closing and any available cash for closing.
• Applicant must fill out and submit an Indee New Resident Housing Incentive Application along with any required financial institution applications.
