  Dig into Art as part of the Independence Public Library Summer Reading Program. Teens and adults are encouraged to participate in this workshop working with chalk pastels. Dig into Pastels begins at 6:30 pm with instructor Marnie Barnett from Pinicon Woods School of Art. All materials are provided. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where participants use a GPS to hide and seek containers with others in the activity. We will search for treasures in town. No registration is required.     Senator Tom Harkin aide, Kim Taylor, will be hosting a mobile office at the Independence Public Library Community Room on Friday, June 14 from 1:15-2:15pm. This event will focus on The Healthy Families Act- an effort by Senator Harkin that would allow workers to earn paid sick leave. This event will be part of a statewide tour that Harkin's staff will host to share ideas on how to improve economic security.
